How to Apply a Tear Tek™ Patch
Clean off and dry the area around the tear. Place the garment on a flat area.
Turn on your iron to the cotton setting; do not engage the steam setting!
Prepare the torn area by cutting away any loose threads around the rip.
Line up the torn sides and align them so that they are as close together and lay as flat as possible.
Preheat the area on the garment where the patch will be applied by placing the Kraft paper onto the repair area and placing the iron over the Kraft paper for 3 seconds.
Cut the appropriate patch from the carrier sheet and position it over the damaged area. Make sure there is at least 1/4 inch margin from the end of the damaged area to insure sufficient bonding strength.
Place the Kraft paper over the patch; be careful to have the carrier side up. Make sure the center of the Kraft paper is placed over the center of the patch. Next, apply heat by placing the iron over the Kraft paper and patch with light-to-moderate pressure and not moving. Hold down for 3 seconds, remove iron and let sit until cool. Once cool, remove the carrier by peeling carefully.
With the carrier removed, cover the patch again with the Kraft paper and heat seal for 10 seconds under light pressure. Remove the iron and let cool.
