Follow in the footsteps of the explorers who first traveled to Everest with our Leader and Everest Summiteer Byron Smith. Adventurous trekkers will enjoy this 16 day trek through the Khumbu region of Nepal. As we start our trek in the gateway town of Lukla we have built in numerous rest days to ensure you will have ample time to acclimatize. Our journey will have us hike along rugged trails as we travel to the mountain's traditional base camp and watch sunrise from Kalapathar. As guests in the homes of Sherpa guides along the way, we listen to their first- person tales of scaling summits of this fascinating region. This is the ultimate trek to the ultimate mountain with knowledgeable guides who have tremendous experience in the region.

Byron Smith has been to the Khumbu region dozens of times, 2 times to attempt to climb Mount Everest with the ultimate success of summitting in May 2000, and multiple times as a tireless fundraiser for the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation in support of The Sherpa People of Nepal.
Byron also has the distinction of climbing to the top of the highest mountains on all seven continents, completing his Seven Summits Quest, making him one of only a handful of Mountaineers to have accomplished this feat

Meeting 1) An opportunity to meet your fellow trekkers, gain an overview of the trek including what to bring with you and what to expect when we are on the ground!

Meeting 2) A session dedicated to the Sherpa Culture that we will be spending 3 weeks travelling through including an understanding of Budhism.

Meeting 3) A journey out into the foothills or mountains around Calgary with your fellow trekkers and leaders. This mini trip will allow the opportunity to try out your trekking gear, and get to know the rest of the team

I went on a kayak trip in early September, 2022 and needed to upgrade some of my gear. I replaced my old rain gear with custom fit Spirit West SwitchBack jacket and pants. The fabric seems to be very similar to my Arcteryx coat but it's much quieter. The hood worked perfectly and was stiff enough that I didn't need a baseball cap. We had a several days of wind and rain and the coat and pants worked flawlessly. It's so comfortable that I'll be able to wear it around town too.
