The Langtang valley trek was the third most popular trekking region after Everest and Annapurna until the 2015 earthquake drastically affected the region. After some reconstruction and stabilisation of the trekking routes, the Langtang National Park is open again for trekking. The local community needs the tourism and this trek is a unique opportunity to see a region in the process of rebuilding after such devastation.
Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1 - Kathmandu to Syabrubesi
Drive to Syabrubesi (1460m) by local express bus
Day 2 - Lama Hotel (2340m)Lama Hotel (2340m)
Day 3 - Langtang (3330m)
Langtang (3330m). You will travel along through the Langtang valley floor past the Buddhist monastery to Langtang village which was buried in the 2015 earthquake. Reconstruction in this region is ongoing as the local community have tried to recover from the devastation of the quake and ensuing landslides.
Day 4 - Kyangjin (3730m). Afternoon hike up Kyangjin Ri (4711m)
Day 5 - Kyangjin Gompa - Hike up Tsergo Ri (4984m)
Kyangjin Gompa - Hike up Tsergo Ri (4984m). Keeping Kyangjin as a base, this day excursion hike up to Tsergo Ri is well worth the effort! If you feel less inclined, you can spend the day relaxing in Kyangjin, visiting the monastery and cheese factory. You can also rent a horse to explore the picturesque Langtang valley.
Day 6 - Trek to Lama Hotel
Day 7 - Trek to Thulo Shyabru.
Day 8 - Trek to Dunche.
Trek to Dunche. Retracing your steps from the first day of your trek, you will descend through the forest before reaching Dunche for a well-earned rest.
Day 9 - Drive: Dunche-KathmanduDrive: Dunche-Kathmandu. You will return to Kathmandu on the express bus and have the afternoon to relax, shop or go for a well-earned massage!
