- Light and compressible, the Essential relies on materials and construction techniques to create 3 layers of dead air space. One layer of Ramtect® compressed wool is sandwiched between the lightweight and windproof outer shell and inner lining, leaving you much warmer!

I went on a kayak trip in early September, 2022 and needed to upgrade some of my gear. I replaced my old rain gear with custom fit Spirit West SwitchBack jacket and pants. The fabric seems to be very similar to my Arcteryx coat but it's much quieter. The hood worked perfectly and was stiff enough that I didn't need a baseball cap. We had a several days of wind and rain and the coat and pants worked flawlessly. It's so comfortable that I'll be able to wear it around town too.
